How to structure your team's communication in Podio

Podio Tip #3
Hi Designs,

There are several ways of communicating within Podio all to suit different occasions.

Here's a best practice guide to using them:

  • Comments  – to us, comments are almost always the best way to discuss work for a number of reasons: they have an instantly recognizable context and they're quick to reference, as they're attached directly to the content you're discussing. If you want to loop someone new into a discussion, simply mention them by typing the @ symbol, followed by their name.
  • Status posts – sharing news or ideas in a workspace activity stream is a great way to reach a large group and start a discussion – especially when compared to mass emails.
  • Chat – so handy for getting an instant response to a question or for your less structured conversations – chat is a feature we advise to use with care. More often than not we believe that if something's in Podio and you can comment on it, then that is the best way to communicate about it – rather than sending chat messages.

Why these recommendations? We're big believers in 'transparency as default' – based on it being the most efficient and also most enjoyable way of working.

As always, if you need any help, contact Podio Support.

Best regards,

Team Podio
